Oak Creek Park

The Fort Independence Community of Paiutes of the Fort Independence Indian Reservation commissioned the the design a park facility to attract travelers along highway 395 and accommodate use by Tribe members. The park was designed with a cultural emphasis, with interpretive elements, a destination playground, community center & amphitheater, and a sustainable, low-maintenance, cultural landscape with local native plants sacred to the Paiute of Fort Independence.

Sustainable Recreation Design served as prime consultant for Design/Engineering of the grant-funded park and community center on 2-acre greenfield hillside property; Design of playground, amphitheater, and interpretive areas; Grading/drainage, stormwater management, & erosion control; Hardscape, planting, & irrigation plans; Construction details & specifications.
